Iraq – Repair and Rehabilitation of 19KM DN1000MM GRP Pipeline

At the beginning of this Delta River Limited-responsible project, we faced a number of problems. First of all, we faced constant water leakage problems from the areas where the GRP pipeline meets the reinforced concrete. In addition, the air valves required to provide air outlets in the project design were not placed in the right places and in sufficient numbers. During hydrostatic tests, there were constant problems due to leaks and water leakages. Moreover, the future of the project was uncertain as the client wanted to completely replace the GRP Pipeline.

However, thanks to hard work and a professional approach, we successfully completed the project. First of all, we reinforced the pipeline by performing 1900 DN1000mm internal Multiaxial Coils. Then, we carried out a comprehensive inspection of the DN1000mm GRP Pipeline extending for 20 km from the inside. In this process, we performed 250 Joint Tests and meticulously checked the joints. Finally, we successfully completed hydrostatic tests and put an end to water leakage.

The success of this project was made possible by teamwork, know-how and determination. From a challenging starting point where the client wanted to completely replace the GRP Pipeline, we overcame the challenges and transformed it into a robust and reliable water transmission project. The project results show that Delta River Limited fulfilled its commitment and met the client’s expectations.
